PARKING AROUND 1984

Places you can park and places to AVOID!

Parking downtown can be frustrating, but it is because of the unique nature of our really cool downtown spaces.  Buildings all next to each other and very few of them with dedicated parking lots, but once you find a space you can roam from place to place for hours and enjoy the sites, food and fun.

“It’s all Downtown” Springfield has created this map that covers ALL OF DOWNTOWN.  (PDF Map here)

We have some specific “secret” instructions about parking in the immediate vicinity around our building.  There is a small lot behind American Business Systems that they are gracious enough to allow us to use after hours and on the weekends when they are closed.  ONLY after 5PM weeknights and/or all day Saturday & Sunday.   See the pictures below for overhead map views.

Street parking is also available.  After 5PM Weekdays, time restrictions are lifted.  From Friday at 5PM until Monday morning these spaces are open all weekend.

Looking to bring in stuff for an event you’ve scheduled with us?

There’s a loading zone parking in front of the YMCA across the street.  30 minute limit.  Plenty of time to unpack, drop off stuff and then find a longer term spot somewhere.

ONE PLACE TO AVOID AT ALL COST

DO NOT park in any of the spaces around the “old Hoover Music” building.  It is owned by another company and turned into offices.  They have an EXTREMELY vigilant towing company that will know within MINUTES that you’ve parked there and they will tow you — FAST.  This is the strongest warning we can give you.  We’ve had customers that parked there came down to 84 to drop off someone / something, went back and their car was towed.  DO NOT PARK THERE.

WHERE CAN YOU PARK?

As mentioned above, there is a map that shows a BUNCH of Downtown Parking Spaces, and we can recommend one small lot.  This is a kind of secret spot.  Tucked in behind American Business Systems (ABS).

We’ve been given permission to use their lot ONLY after 5PM and the weekends.  There’s a few spaces, but as long as you are in the areas belonging to ABS, you will be fine.  The lot you drive through belongs to the apartment building The VUE.  Do NOT PARK THERE.

Please see the map below to clarify.
