About 1984
1984 Arcade in its basic form is a classic 1980s Style Arcade. Here at 1984 we feature games from the 80's as well as a few from the 70's and 90's if they "fit". As you enter 1984 you pay five dollars at the door and then you can play all the video games you want. *We do offer Pinball for 25 cent per play. The games we offer are difficult to find and we are really more then just an arcade - it's a classic gaming museum featuring arcade machines that are just not available to the public anymore. We are especially proud of our collection of Vector games like Asteroids, Deluxe Asteroids, Gravitar, Tempest and BattleZone! You will find almost all the classics here including Space Invaders, Ms. Pac Man, Centipede and many more. We have about 50 games and we rotate new games in almost weekly. Of course we offer private parties and an 80's vibe, complete with music videos from ABC to ZZTop... Its all here at 1984.

New Donkey Kong Junior World Record Presentation At 1984
Description: On 5/15/2010 At 7:00 PM, the Owners of 1984 Arcade Will Make A Special Presentation To Mark Kiehl Celebrating His New World Record on Donkey Kong Junior at 1984 Arcade in Springfield Missouri
Springfield, MO, 5/14/2010 – On April 19th Mark Kiehl set a new world record on Donkey Kong Junior. His score of 1,253,000 was set on location at 1984 Arcade in Springfield Missouri. On Saturday 5/15/2010 the owners of 1984 Arcade will celebrate Mark’s accomplishment by presenting him with a special certificate and gift to remember the occasion.
On September 9th, 2009 Mark set his first world record on Donkey Kong Junior at 1984 arcade. His score was then topped by Steve Weibe (From the hit documentary “Fist Full Of Quarters”. Mark’s new score is his second time to achieve the world record in less then a year.
The original high score was set by Billy Mitchell in 1983 and held up through 2008 when it was eclipsed by Ike Hall. Then a new high score was set by Steve Weibe.
Since 1982 at the age of 11 Mark has been playing Donkey Kong Junior. As a teenager he had plenty of opportunity to play and work on his skills and was able to push his score up around 250,000. But after his local arcade sent the Donkey Kong Junior machine away it was a rare opportunity for him to be able to play the game again after that. Years later Mark began playing again using MAME on his home computer to simulate his favorite game. And, after learning about 1984 Aracade he started to visit the 1984 in Springfield Mo in person to play, practice and begin a string of world record scores.
